Popular with visitors old and new from all over the country and Europe, the area is well known for having some of the best natural coastlines in the country with lovely sandy beaches and character seaside towns. A few miles inland from Paignton are the picturesque hills and towns of South Hams with outstanding countryside, river valleys, sleepy ancient villages and historic market towns which are so 'typically English'. Walking, cycling, golfing, horse riding, water sports, sunbathing, paddling in the sea, boat rides, historical Steam Railway journeys, visits to the fun fair and many other local attractions can be enjoyed in the area.

We are situated a short flat walk from Paignton's promenade, its lovely Victorian Pier, picturesque Harbour, Cinema, Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway and Blue Flag graded beaches. Hudson's Bay is in easy reach from the train and bus stations and the local amenities where the all important restaurants, cafes and shops can be enjoyed.

The house is typical Victorian, sandstone built and over the years has been lovingly restored to offer exceptionally clean, contemporary furnished self catering holiday accommodation, most with views of the sea or Torbay Gardens. Guests have full use of the rear garden, patio furniture and on-site laundry facilities. We have on-site parking for guests.

Paignton & South Devon

Paignton town centre is on the doorstep and Torquay is only 3 miles away. Hudson's Bay is within easy reach of many towns, villages and attractions including Brixham, Cockington, Dartmouth, Babbacombe, Newton Abbott, Totnes, Teignmouth, Shaldon, Dawlish and the natural beauty of Dartmoor.

We are perfectly positioned for enjoying the variety of summer time regattas which include firework displays, concerts, classic cars, steam exhibitions, the famous Red Arrows, Long Ships, Power Boat racing and much more. Amongst the places to visit nearby is "Greenway" and its gardens. This was the holiday home of the famous crime writer Agatha Christie; also there is the world famous Paignton Zoo, Living Coasts, Babbacombe Model Village and the Geopark. Newton Abbot Race Course and the numerous street markets are also popular.

How to find Hudson's Bay Self Catering Holiday Accommodation

Heading south west by road we are situated 21 miles from the M5 motorway, about a 45 minute drive on normal days. Paignton railway station is the final destination for trains to the English Riviera. Paignton is also well serviced by National Express Buses. While we are close to Paignton town we are in a quiet location close to a lot of outstanding natural beauty, especially the coastline and views across the Bay! A 10 minute drive and you find yourselves surrounded by hills and fields. Ferry trips to Torquay and Brixham can be made from Paignton Harbour or the beach.

Hudson's Bay Holiday Accommodation

Built in 1896, Hudson's Bay is a typical Victorian sandstone house on four levels. It is understood to have been the property of a wealthy Victorian before commencing life as a 14 bedroomed family run hotel. The building was converted to 9 apartments in the 60's and in 2007 Janet and Roy Kinder moved in and redesigned the property to incorporate 6 apartments with two apartments being converted into their own living accommodation. Rose & Frederick White took over the business in 2015.
